Position Overview

The purpose of this role is to lead the design and analysis of structural components in high‑voltage and medium‑voltage substations.
Location:
Hybrid (Raleigh, NC)
- Lead the design and analysis of structural components in high‑voltage and medium‑voltage substations, including foundations, support structures, bus structures, and control buildings.
- Ensure all designs adhere to national and international building codes, electrical industry standards, and safety regulations relevant to high‑voltage substations.
- Perform detailed engineering calculations (load analysis, seismic analysis, wind loading, foundation design) to ensure structural integrity.
- Continuously seek opportunities to optimize substation designs, considering cost‑effectiveness, constructability, and long‑term performance.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate projects, ensuring timely delivery, and providing technical support during construction and commissioning phases.
- Offer technical expertise and guidance to internal teams and external stakeholders on structural matters related to high‑voltage substations.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in structural engineering, with a focus on high‑voltage substations.
- Proficient in structural analysis software such as ETABS, L‑Pile, STAAD.Pro, SAP
2000, etc. - Solid understanding of national and international building codes and industry standards related to substations (e.g., IEEE, IEC, ASCE, NESC).
- Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team‑oriented environment.
- Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Proven project management skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
