Responsibilities
- Design rail infrastructure including track and alignment design
- Prepare calculations, technical documentation, engineering design plans, technical reports, specifications, and cost estimates
- Engage as part of large multidisciplinary teams and review design documents for consistency and coordination
- Coordinate stakeholder agreements with railroads, municipalities, or other relevant entities
- Engage in verbal and written communications with clients, contractors, and subcontractors
- Build and maintain good working relationships with business partners, suppliers, contractors, and clients
- Train team members in technical software and collaboration tools, design coordination workflows
- Assist in the preparation of proposals
- Conduct design work independently and provide guidance to junior staff
- Assist with direct embedment on client sites as required
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent technical degree from an accredited university
- 4+ years progressive design experience in rail trackwork and/or roadway design preferred
- Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain within 12 months
- Proficiency in using Bentley (Bentley Rail Track, Open Rail, Open Roads) software design packages
- Experience in rail alignment and trackwork design for Class I railways preferred
- Excellent interpersonal skills, organization, and attention to detail
- Proactive self-starter who is flexible, adaptable, and eager to learn
- Confident and positive attitude
- Desire and flexibility to travel across the state (a plus)
- Strong written and communication skills
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Random drug testing may be required based on project needs
