Autonomy Test Engineer

Blue River Technology, a John Deere subsidiary focused on autonomous machinery and AI/ML innovation, is seeking an Autonomy Test Engineer to validate and deploy computer vision models and autonomy software for autonomous mowing systems. You will bridge advanced autonomy software and real-world machine performance through rigorous field testing, data collection, and live diagnostics.

• Design, build, and optimize comprehensive test plans to verify autonomous mower safety and performance
• Conduct live, in-field testing and real-time troubleshooting of autonomous mowers in operational environments
• Use Linux command-line proficiency to parse logs, run diagnostics, and analyze system performance on embedded platforms
• Maintain the health and calibration of the autonomous test fleet
• Document test results, software bugs, and hardware anomalies with clear, actionable feedback for the engineering team

• Proven hands‑on background in testing, validation, and system verification
• Comfort working with physical hardware, wiring, and mechanical components
• Practical Linux command-line navigation and software environment diagnostics
• Exceptional technical communication skills to bridge field realities and software development teams
• Rigorous mindset dedicated to safety and risk mitigation in autonomous operations

• Basic scripting skills (Python, Bash) to automate data logging and log parsing
• Familiarity with engineering tools such as Jira, Git, and Confluence
• Understanding of robotic sensors (LiDAR, cameras, GPS) and calibration workflows
• Experience with robotics, autonomous vehicles, agricultural equipment, or commercial mowers

$91,000–$137,000/year base pay, eligible for annual performance bonus and competitive benefits package
