Job Summary

The Mechanical Piping Supervisor conducts all work in accordance with Company policies, procedures and programs. The Mechanical Piping Supervisor reports directly to the Mechanical Piping Coordinator of SE&M Constructors. The Mechanical Piping Supervisor is expected to be proficient at and perform the following duties:

  • Direct oversight and coordination of assigned mechanical piping projects by assisting the project manager and Mechanical Piping Coordinator with the overall management and execution of safety, quality, and efficiency requirements of each project.
  • Initial mobilization of new projects and demobilization of completed projects.
  • Field procurement of materials as needed to conform to project specifications.
  • Managing rental equipment needs for mechanical piping projects.
  • Responsible for installing, assembling, fabricating, maintaining, and repairing mechanical piping systems that carry various fluids including water, steam, chemicals, or gases in industrial settings. Systems include piping, valves, fittings, and equipment.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical piping systems, materials, and industrial standards.
  • Layout, assemble, install, and maintain underground and above-ground pipe systems, pipe supports, and related equipment.
  • Ability to run and become certified in the operation of heavy machinery including forklifts, man lifts, and rigging equipment as required.
  • Use various tools and equipment, such as pipe cutters, threading machines, compression tools, press tools, and bending tools to join pipes by means of welding, brazing, soldering, cementing, compression, press, or threading.
  • Diagnosing and repairing faults in mechanical piping systems, including leaks, blockages, or pressure issues.
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, P&IDs, and specifications to plan the layout of mechanical piping systems, ensuring compliance with design specifications and regulatory standards.
  • Test mechanical piping systems for leaks using methods such as hydrostatic testing or air pressure tests.
  • Ensure all work meets quality standards and industry codes.
  • Daily management of assigned mechanical piping staff.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and support to field teams assigned to you.
  • Lead and instruct pipe fitting helpers, mechanics, and welders under your supervision.
  • Coordinate with Mechanical Piping Coordinator weekly to discuss and plan manpower, tool, and equipment needs necessary to meet project schedules and requirements.
  • Quality control walk downs and safety audits of mechanical piping projects.
  • Maintain all as-built project records and test record documents to ensure relevant information is documented and secured.
  • Punchlist management on mechanical piping projects.
  • Work in BIM models provided by SE&M BIM Manager.
  • Work in Plan Grid project management document manager.
  • Complete/Audit timecards for each project.
  • Complete daily reports.
  • Develop positive business relationships while ensuring contractual compliance with all parties.
  • Help maintain working relationships with clients, designers, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Monitor and enforce current regulatory standards and company safety guidelines.
  • Attend jobsite weekly meetings when required.
  • Work as a team with other SE&M departments (Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, and Service) and company divisions.
  • Drive and be personally responsible for a Company vehicle that may have SE&M employees as passengers and job-related cargo/trailers.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5-7+ years of experience in mechanical piping projects for industrial, pharmaceutical, and heavy commercial industries.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, P&IDs, and specifications.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical piping codes and industry standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to collaborate with teams.
  • Detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to manage projects in a fast-paced environment.
Work Conditions
  • Work week
    - The normal work week will be Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 5:30 pm or whatever time commitment is required that week to fulfill your duties. Weekend, night work or travel may be required.
