Job Title:

Hardware Design Engineer

Job Description

This role focuses on designing, analyzing, and validating high-speed digital interfaces and power delivery networks to ensure robust signal integrity and power integrity performance. The Signal Integrity Engineer uses advanced simulation tools and transmission line theory to support the development of high-speed PCBs and packages, with a strong emphasis on high-speed DDR, Ser Des, and related high-speed interfaces.

Responsibilities

+ Perform signal integrity analysis for high-speed interfaces such as DDR, NRZ, and PAM4 Ser Des using industry-standard simulation tools.

+ Apply transmission line theory and high-speed circuit fundamentals to design and optimize high-speed interconnects on PCBs and packages.

+ Use tools such as IBIS, HSPICE, ADS, MATLAB, Cadence PowerSI AC/DC, and Allegro to model, simulate, and validate high-speed signal paths and power delivery networks.

+ Conduct power integrity (PI) analysis to evaluate and improve power noise performance for high-speed designs.

+ Support high-speed PCB and package development by providing layout guidelines, stack-up recommendations, and routing constraints based on signal integrity and power integrity requirements.

+ Interpret simulation results, identify potential signal integrity and power integrity issues, and propose practical design solutions.

+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate signal integrity and power integrity considerations into overall system design.

+ Contribute to and leverage coursework, project experience, or prior work in signal integrity and power noise analysis to improve design quality and performance.

+ Install, troubleshoot, and repair hardware, software, printers, phone systems, and AV equipment as needed to support engineering and lab environments.

+ Review, audit, and revise policies affecting the security and operability of hardware and software used in the design and test environment.

+ Diagnose and resolve problems related to hardware, software, and network systems that impact engineering workflows and test setups.

+ Order equipment and software, coordinate with vendors, and ensure timely deployment of tools and systems required for signal integrity and power integrity work.

Essential Skills

+ Proficiency with IBIS, HSPICE, ADS, MATLAB, Cadence PowerSI AC/DC, and Allegro for signal integrity and power integrity simulations.

+ Strong knowledge of transmission line theory and high-speed circuit fundamentals.

+ Familiarity with simulation tools such as SPICE, HSPICE, or similar circuit simulators.

+ Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

+ 3-5 years of relevant experience in signal integrity, high-speed digital design, or related areas.

+ Ability to install, troubleshoot, and repair hardware, software, printers, phone systems, and AV equipment.

+ Experience reviewing, auditing, and revising policies related to hardware and software security and operability.

+ Strong diagnostic skills for identifying and resolving hardware, software, and network issues.

+ At least 3 years of experience in technical support or a closely related engineering support function.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications

+

Working experience with high-speed DDR links, including DDR5, is a plus.

+

Experience with NRZ and PAM4 Ser Des links is highly desirable.

+ Background in high-speed PCB and package development and power integrity (PI) analysis is a strong advantage.

+ Coursework or project experience in signal integrity, power noise analysis, or closely related fields.

+ Hands-on experience with Ser Des, high-speed digital interfaces, and signal integrity analysis tools.

+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex simulation data.

+ Effective communication skills to present findings and recommendations to cross-functional teams.

Work Environment

This position is fully onsite in the Research Triangle Park (RTP) area. You will work in a lab and office environment that supports high-speed digital design and validation, using tools such as IBIS, HSPICE, ADS, MATLAB, Cadence PowerSI AC/DC, and Allegro, along with standard IT hardware, software, printers, phone systems, and AV equipment. The role involves close collaboration with engineering and support teams in a hands-on setting, where you will interact with test equipment, development systems, and networked resources throughout the workda
