Sr Platform Engineer
The Senior Platform Engineer is responsible for the reliability, performance, scalability, and technical integrity of the Service Now platform. This role ensures the platform can support growing demand for automation, service visibility, and governed workflows without creating instability. The Senior Platform Engineer focuses on the platform itself as a product, improving standards, runtime behavior, engineering discipline, and long-term sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Optimize platform performance for high-volume workflows, large data sets, and expanding automation demand.
- Identify and address runtime bottlenecks, performance constraints, and supportability risks.
- Establish engineering practices that improve stability under production load.
- Define and enforce technical standards for maintainable, upgrade-safe platform engineering.
- Create reusable engineering patterns, review mechanisms, and design guardrails that improve consistency across teams.
- Strengthen delivery practices through version control, automated testing, deployment discipline, and environment consistency.
- Improve platform observability, health monitoring, and support readiness so issues are detected and addressed earlier.
- Prioritize remediation of design choices, customizations, and legacy patterns that create long-term risk or constrain scale.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience in Service Now platform engineering, software engineering, or technical operations roles supporting enterprise platforms.
- Strong understanding of performance optimization, engineering standards, release practices, and operational resilience.
- Hands-on experience improving maintainability, scalability, and observability in complex environments.
- Proven ability to balance delivery speed with control, supportability, and long-term platform integrity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting service-centric or Service-Aware operating models.
- Familiarity with platform lifecycle management, observability practices, and engineering governance.
- Background in highly regulated or high-availability environments.
- Relevant engineering or platform certifications.
- A Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
