Substation Designer - P&C Westwood Professional Services, Inc.

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a collaborative, detail-oriented Substation Designer (CAD Technician) to join a growing energy consulting firm. The Substation Designer will work with our Substation Engineering Team to prepare schematic and associated wiring diagrams for high voltage utility substation projects and renewable energy interconnections. The position requires working with engineers and consultants to create these drawings.

Full-time

• Computer aided design and drafting of all engineering products and deliverables.
• Collaborate with engineers and other drafters to correct discrepancies in drawings and designs.
• Typical CAD design of functional electrical drawings:
  Operations Diagrams, Single Line Drawings, Three Line Drawings, Current and Potential Schematics, Protection and Control Schematics, Communication Schematics, Alarm Schematics.
• Associated Wiring Diagrams (Point to Point Translation).
• Import tables and calculations such as BOMs and create notes for each drawing.
• Self-check all work to ensure accuracy before turning it over to the supervisor or designee for review.
• Understand and meet project schedule and quality requirements.
• Complete drawings accurately and efficiently, with a detailed and quality-oriented focus.
• Handle multiple projects concurrently and maintain flexibility to changes in work assignments.
• Assist in the delivery of complete projects, which may include phone or e‑mail correspondence, Microsoft Teams communications, attending meetings, and other project documents.
• Provide interdepartmental support as required.

• Associate degree in Design & Drafting Technology or related field of study.
• Minimum of 3 years of CAD experience, AutoCAD experience preferred.
• Previous experience drafting schematic and associated wiring drawings for high voltage utility substation projects is required.
