We’re looking for a driven Construction Engineer who thrives on solving complex challenges and leading projects that make a real impact. In this role, you’ll take ownership of projects from award through closeout—shaping strategy, driving field execution, and ensuring excellence in safety, quality, and environmental compliance.
You’ll be the connective force between the field, clients, subcontractors, and technical teams, using your expertise to keep projects moving efficiently while maintaining a strong hands‑on presence on site. What You’ll Do- Champion a strong project safety culture and model best‑in‑class safety behaviors.
- Ensure all work meets safety, quality, contractual, and environmental standards.
- Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, RFIs, change orders, and reporting.
- Coordinate daily with field crews, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to keep operations running smoothly.
- Prepare and track invoices with accurate SOV documentation.
- Maintain rigorous cost control and forecasting throughout the project lifecycle.
- Deliver all required submittals, regulatory documentation, and compliance materials.
- Write detailed Work Plans including HASPs, SAPs, and Quality Control Plans.
- Develop technical narratives, work methods, and environmental execution strategies.
- Support estimating efforts for civil and environmental remediation projects.
- Review drawings, specifications, and environmental data to support bid proposals.
- Present bid packages, contribute to technical approaches, and participate in value engineering.
- Conduct site visits to assess constructability, risks, and field conditions.
- Secure all necessary permits for project execution.
- Maintain a strong field presence—especially during startup and critical operations.
- Support crews with equipment knowledge, production planning, and safe work practices.
- Build and strengthen relationships with consulting teams and clients.
- Leverage industry connections to identify new opportunities and strategic pursuits.
- Attend pre‑bid meetings, industry events, and client check‑ins.
- Contribute to proposals, bid strategies, and long‑term growth initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or equivalent experience.
- 10 years of hands‑on experience in environmental remediation, civil construction, or related fields.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work seamlessly with engineers and consulting teams.
- Proven ability to estimate, manage, and execute complex field projects.
- Confident client‑facing communication and business development capabilities.
- Proficiency with P6, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe, MS Projects, and related tools.
- Solid understanding of environmental regulations (CERCLA, RCRA, Brownfields, etc.).
- Excellent written and verbal communication, including technical plan development.
- Strong leadership, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to visit active project sites regularly.
- Experience in environmental engineering, remediation, civil or geotechnical engineering, construction management, or environmental compliance.
- Background in scheduling, budgeting, and project controls.
- A proactive, ownership‑driven mindset with a commitment to professional excellence.
- Ability to navigate challenges with grit, creativity, and a solutions‑focused approach.
This role offers flexibility to work from multiple locations, including Charlotte (NC), Raleigh (NC), or Greenville (SC) with regular visits to active project sites. You’ll collaborate with diverse teams and maintain a hands‑on presence in the field to support safe, efficient, and high‑quality project execution.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Raleigh, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $55.00 – $68.00/hr.
