VDC Detailer II - MEP

Position Overview

The VDC MEP Detailer II is responsible for creating precise and coordinated 3D models of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems in support of construction projects. This position focuses on detailing and modeling to ensure all systems are clash‑free, constructible, and in compliance with project specifications and standards.

• Leadership: Mentor less experienced team members, provide guidance and share subject‑matter expertise.
• Project Coordination: Attend internal project meetings, clarify scope, and provide timely updates to stakeholders.
• Quality Control: Collaborate with the quality‑control team to review models and ensure they are clash‑free and meet company standards.
• Model Management: Develop and maintain project‑specific models, enforce naming conventions, and ensure all parameters are populated.
• Software Expertise: Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, Fabrication CADmep, BIM 360, Revizto, Stratus, Navisworks; troubleshoot software issues.
• Revit & Navisworks: Use advanced Revit features (families, parameters, fabrication parts) and Navisworks for clash detection, cuts, search sets, and clash reports.
• Utility Design: Interpret P&IDs to create accurate utility models and detail mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems following industry standards.
• Fabrication Knowledge: Understand shop fabrication and field installation practices, including off‑site manufacturing techniques.
• Contract & Code Knowledge: Apply building codes (IBC, UFC, CBC), utility specifications (MSS, SMACNA, NEMA, NFPA) to deliverables.
• Installation & Spool Drawings: Produce plan, section, and 3‑D views in Revit that comply with ISAT standards.

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Expertise in BIM tools and applications related to cost, scheduling, estimating, design, and coordination.
• Proven written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical material effectively.
• Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal skills, and proficiency with BIM applications such as Navisworks.
• Experience conducting skill assessments, providing training, and managing performance reviews.
• Must pass a background check.
