Job Description
Parsons is hiring a Supervising Structural Engineer to apply advanced bridge design engineering techniques and supervise a team of Engineers and Designers. The role includes leadership opportunities on marquee projects such as Alternative Delivery Design‑Build and Public Private Partnerships, while working in a highly flexible, team‑oriented environment with exceptional communication, analytical, technical, and management skills.
As the incumbent, you will supervise a group of engineers and design personnel, perform and direct technical engineering assignments, coordinate project staffing assignments, and ensure the successful delivery of large or multiple smaller projects. Willingness to travel or relocate to supplier client or construction site locations is expected.
The successful candidate must be based in North Carolina. A hybrid work schedule may be available for the right candidate.
Responsibilities- Conduct performance evaluations, recommend promotions and salary actions, and identify training and development needs.
- Define discipline design organization and participation on a project, including scope of work, design criteria, schedules, standards, and procedures.
- Serve as Job Leader or discipline Project Engineer, responsible for preliminary through final project completion, including liaison with clients, suppliers, and contractors.
- Supervise the production of project drawings and design calculations to ensure compliance with codes, standards, and procedures, while monitoring productivity and technical proficiency.
- Ensure coordination of discipline design work with other project staff and engineers across disciplines.
- Determine budget estimates and staffing requirements for the defined scope and schedule.
- Promote technical excellence and support the Quality Improvement Process.
- Advise engineering and project management on problem areas, staffing needs, production delays, scope changes, or events that could affect project completion or profitability.
- Initiate and/or review change order requests for additions, deletions, or changes to the original scope of work.
- Recommend design methods and equipment use for discipline standards.
- Maintain affiliation with professional societies to stay current on emerging technologies.
- 4‑year degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- 15+ years of related engineering experience.
- North Carolina PE license required, or ability to obtain one within 6 months.
- Thorough knowledge of current technology and proficiency with appropriate engineering software.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of industry practices and regulations.
