Mechanical Designer
In this role, you will be a part of the Mechanical team, of the MEP Buildings sector (Life Science & Healthcare projects), based in Raleigh, North Carolina.
What a day at EXP has in store for you:- Revit or CAD proficient with working in 3D models
- Prepare HVAC one-line diagrams
- Prepare/ Review HVAC load and airflow calculations.
- Basic knowledge of Mechanical, plumbing and energy codes.
- Edit mechanical specifications to reflect the project requirements.
- Develop equipment room sizes during SD and DD phases.
- Size, select and schedule equipment.
- Meet with vendors to determine specific equipment requirements for application.
- Coordinate with other disciplines (mepfp, arch, struct, etc).
- Respond to RFIs for the project, and accurately review submittals.
- Solve installation problems during project construction.
- Manage time effectively based on the required design process for the project.
- Ability to deliver appropriate design level documentation based on project scope.
- Edit and develop scope of work narratives (SD narrative, basis of design, etc).
- Perform at a ‘responsible charge’ level; meeting exp’s design and quality levels.
- Manage work plans and deliverables on multiple projects within budgeted hours.
- Write studies and reports for systems on projects.
- Write sequences of operations for AHU’s, CHW and HW systems.
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems such as Constant Volume air systems, Variable air volume systems, hot and chilled water hydronic systems.
- Basic understanding of psychometrics and be able to apply to every project.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
- Candidate should have an engineering degree in the field of mechanical engineering with 0-3 years of building HVAC design experience.
- Experience with time management and working in a team environment.
- EIT or Registered Professional Engineer preferred or the desire to sit for the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam.
- Experience designing in science and technology preferred.
