What You Will Do
GFT is seeking an Office Engineer to join our Construction Services team in the Raleigh area. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Raleigh office.

ResponsibilitiesIndependently performs a variety of assignments requiring the application of standard construction engineering techniques for a small project or selected segments of a larger project. Must be capable of exercising independent judgment in evaluating, selecting, and applying standard construction engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to make minor adaptations and modifications. Assignments have clear and specific objectives and require the investigation of a limited number of variables.
Possesses skills to acceptably supervise OE and FOA staff.
- Reviews and modifies schedules, specifications, and drawings.
- Prepares status and progress reports.
- Recognizes construction or engineering problems and applies standard techniques and procedures to resolve same.
- Coordinates drawing schedules, project schedules, and contract schedules with design engineering activities.
- Evaluates alternate construction methods.
- Initiates field changes to drawings and specifications.
- Reviews and comments on contract specifications.
- Establishes and maintains job record files.
- Assists construction inspectors and contractor's representatives in clarification of contract drawings and specifications relative to assigned contracts.
- Reviews and processes contractor's submittal of shop and working drawings and material samples and distributes as required.
- Assists in reviewing contractor's claims determining merit of claims and negotiating cost and/or time adjustments based upon such claims.
- Prepares change orders and contract modifications.
- Assists in preparing cost and/or time estimates for pending change orders and contract modifications.
Required
- Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in a related field preferred.
- 15+ years related experience.
Preferred
- Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Proficiency with Construction Management, Scheduling and Document Management software(s).
- OSHA Safety Training.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Must possess a driver's license to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
The salary range for this role is $100,000 - $125,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
