Job SummaryAs part of the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality’s State Energy Office, the Environmental Specialist II will support the $90 million Infrastructure and Investment Jobs Act Weatherization Assistance Program. The role involves providing technical assistance to local weatherization subgrantees and monitoring the quality of work to ensure compliance with energy conservation measures.
Responsibilities- Provide technical assistance to weatherization subgrantees.
- Monitor and inspect energy efficiency work conducted in homes.
- Ensure proper implementation of weatherization measures in line with IIJA WAP standards.
- Travel within the state as required, including occasional overnight stays.
- Minimum 1,000 hours of relevant prior experience in home performance, weatherization, building science, or energy audits.
- Current BPI HEP Energy Auditor certification.
- Current BPI HEP Quality Control Inspector certification.
- Obtain and maintain BPI Multifamily Building Analyst (MFBA) certification within 6 months of hire.
- Bachelor’s degree in agricultural, biological, engineering, environmental, or natural resource sciences (or closely related curriculum) plus two years of related experience.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience are acceptable.
Hourly rate: $27.50 (based on education and/or relevant experience).
