We’re seeking a Bridge Inspection Technologist to join our Cary, NC office. This position will assist the Team Leader of a 2‑man bridge inspection team with in‑depth safety inspections of all types of highway structures, including bridges, culverts, large pipes and walkways, and measurement of sign clearances. The successful candidate will take precise measurements on structures to detect any movement, deterioration, or damage to structural members and document findings in detailed inspection reports for use in an asset‑management program that determines the structural integrity and safety of State highway structures.

Work is performed outdoors in varying environments, often requiring the ability to work at heights, on slopes, and in exposed conditions. Preference will be given to candidates with bridge safety inspection experience. The successful candidate must be able to drive a vehicle and, if required, operate the equipment independently.

Bridge inspections will occur throughout the entire state of North Carolina and may include out‑of‑state travel to support additional inspections. The position reports to a Raleigh office on a hybrid work schedule.

• Experience using Word and Excel
• Experience with structure plan reading
• Experience with bridge inspection equipment (e.g., Hydra Platforms, Man Lifts, Snooper Trucks, or Boats)
• Experience with digital cameras, tape measures, hammers, and ladders
• Experience in drafting, sketching, and report writing
• Experience with the NCDOT WIGINS system is preferred; not required

• Associate’s degree in civil engineering technology or equivalent combination of training and experience
• Two (2) years of progressive experience in the inspection, construction, design, or maintenance of steel/concrete bridges or related construction activities
