Lead Mechanical Engineer

Eaton's Corporate Sector division is currently seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $105000 - $154000 a year. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

What You'll Do:

Eaton is looking for a lead mechanical engineer for its Power Electronics (PE) and Battery Center of Excellence (CoE). Eaton's PE and Battery CoEs accelerate the company's growth through the development of technology and platforms that are scalable, cost-effective, and manufacturable, as well as standardized design methodologies and tools that can be adopted by multiple business units, which provide a foundation for our business to develop innovative products more rapidly.

This individual will be responsible for the integration of mechanical and electrical components for the power electronics and battery systems by creating structured 3D-CAD assemblies and using the state-of-the art FEA tools to ensure designs meet or exceed requirements. Up to 10% travel domestically and internationally.

Essential functions include leading mechanical design and development activities, performing mechanical design (e.g., 3D CAD modeling, FEA structural analysis) of components and assemblies, developing the technical requirements for and identifying components for the designs, creating technical reports and presentations, performing engineering analysis to define critical design parameters and predict design latitude, performing lab activities like prototyping and measurement, collaborating with cross functional team members such as electrical engineers and lab technicians to successfully develop and validate the designs, and evaluating the designs to meet requirements factoring in performance, size, cost, manufacturability, and reliability.

Qualifications:

Basic qualifications include a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution and minimum 7 years of engineering experience in integrating mechanical and electrical components by creating structured 3D CAD assemblies and using FEA tools to ensure designs meet requirements. Preferred qualifications include an MS in mechanical engineering or equivalent, significant experience in 3D CAD (e.g., Solidworks), strong working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing principles, experience in FEA analysis such as thermal analysis, experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Design for Serviceability, customer-focused with good relationship building and communication skills, experience in designing battery packs, racks, or systems, and Design for Six Sigma certification.
