Southern Engineering Company (SEC), part of the Wayne Brothers family of companies, is seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer with 7–10+ years of structural engineering and design experience to join our growing design-build team.

This role offers the opportunity to be involved in projects from concept and structural design through construction and field implementation
. You’ll collaborate directly with engineering, construction, and field teams to develop practical, cost-effective, and constructible solutions for a variety of industrial projects.

Our projects provide a diverse range of structural engineering challenges involving structural steel, reinforced concrete, equipment support structures, industrial structures, access and egress systems, concrete containment, and storage solutions.

This position is based in Davidson, NC. Some travel is required, primarily throughout the southeastern United States.

• Serve as an integral member of the design-build team from project conception through construction
• Perform and oversee structural analysis and design for industrial projects
• Design structural systems utilizing structural steel and reinforced concrete
• Lead structural design efforts and ensure timely completion of engineering analysis and construction documents
• Prepare and oversee accurate engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and supporting documentation
• Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to junior engineers
• Collaborate with designers, drafters, construction teams, and field personnel to develop practical, constructible solutions
• Perform site evaluations and inspections of existing structures and field conditions
• Conduct field observations during construction and assist in resolving structural and constructability challenges

• 7–10+ years of structural engineering and design experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
• Strong experience designing structural steel and reinforced concrete systems
• Experience with industrial, manufacturing, heavy commercial, or design-build projects preferred
• Strong understanding of structural analysis, engineering calculations, construction drawings, and specifications
• Experience evaluating existing structures and field conditions
• Ability to lead structural design efforts and mentor junior engineers
• Strong communication, leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, construction, and field teams
• Willingness to travel to project sites as needed
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required
