We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to support a yield improvement project for an aerospace engine component product line. This role will focus on improving repair and overhaul processes, reducing turnaround time, increasing first-pass yield, and ensuring repair activities meet technical and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and research technical requirements related to aerospace component repair development, including processes, procedures, and repair techniques.
- Review repair development requirements to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory standards, including materials, tools, equipment, technical documentation, and facility requirements.
- Support teams in identifying and implementing solutions to reduce Turnaround Time (TAT) and improve First Pass Yield (FPY).
- Support the integration of approved engineering solutions into existing technical documentation.
- Develop and complete technical publication change requests, temporary revisions, and permanent revisions.
- Develop and update overhaul repair instructions and repair procedures.
- Create and maintain repair process and procedure documentation.
- Develop and complete technical inspection instructions.
- Evaluate and document technical equivalencies for materials, tools, and equipment used during overhaul and repair activities.
- Provide technical support and oversight to suppliers performing aerospace component overhaul and repair activities.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, manufacturing, suppliers, and other technical teams to resolve repair-related issues and improve processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience with aerospace mechanical components, repair, overhaul, manufacturing, or MRO activities.
- Experience interpreting technical requirements, engineering documentation, drawings, and repair procedures.
- Understanding of aerospace quality and regulatory requirements.
- Experience developing or revising technical procedures, inspection instructions, or engineering documentation.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work effectively with suppliers and cross-functional engineering teams.
Preferred Experience
- Aerospace engine or engine component experience.
- Repair development or overhaul experience.
- Experience with First Pass Yield (FPY) and Turnaround Time (TAT) improvement.
- Experience with technical publications and engineering change documentation.
- Experience supporting aerospace suppliers.
- Familiarity with aerospace materials, tooling, inspection methods, and repair processes.
