Advanced Biogas Systems is the equipment manufacturing division of Landfill Group, based in Hot Springs, North Carolina. We design, fabricate, and install custom biogas processing equipment — pressure vessels, piping systems, gas conditioning skids, and complete RNG processing plants — for landfill gas-to-energy and renewable natural gas projects across the United States.

ABS is a design-build operation. We don’t just fabricate to someone else’s drawings — our engineers design the systems, our shop builds them, and our field crews install and commission them. The Project Manager touches every phase.

We’re a growing, specialized team doing work that matters. Typical ABS projects range from $500K to $5M+ in equipment scope, and we run multiple projects concurrently. Our shop is in the mountains of western NC, our projects span the country, and we need a PM who can own it.

We’re hiring a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager depending on your experience level. Both roles are central to ABS — the difference is how much you own from day one versus how much you grow into with mentorship from the Director.

Project Manager — You’ll support and coordinate the delivery of ABS equipment projects from contract award through fabrication, shipping, installation, and closeout. You’ll work alongside the Director and cross-functional teams, learning the business while managing real projects with real accountability.

Senior Project Manager — You’ll own project delivery end-to-end — from proposal support through engineering coordination, procurement, fabrication, field installation, commissioning, startup, and warranty closeout. You run your projects. On any given job, you’ll coordinate across a team of 20–30 people spanning engineering, production, and field operations.

This is a hands-on role. You will be on the shop floor coordinating with welders, fitters, and engineers. On the phone with customers navigating scope changes. At job sites overseeing installations and commissioning. You’re the person who makes sure the right equipment gets designed right, built right, ships on time, and works when it gets there.

• Support proposal development — review RFPs, develop cost estimates, write proposal sections, and help scope projects before they’re won
• Participate in pre-bid site visits and customer meetings to understand project requirements

Project Planning & Execution

• Manage project schedules, track milestones, identify risks early, and drive solutions before problems become delays
• Lead or support project kickoff meetings — define scope, timeline, milestones, deliverables, long-lead items, and team roles
• Coordinate across engineering, production, and field teams to keep projects on track
• Manage risk assessments and mitigation strategies for both cost and schedule
• Understand and manage different contract structures — lump sum, T&M, cost-plus, and milestone-based — and their risk profiles (Senior)
• Serve as a key point of contact for customers on project scope, schedule, cost, and qualit
• Communicate project status proactively to customers, internal leadership, third-party contractors, and regulatory agencies
• Manage submittals — assemble packages, track approvals, incorporate comments using Bluebeam or PDF markup tools
• Manage scope changes — evaluate cost and schedule impact, prepare change orders, get customer sign-off before authorizing additional work

Multi-Discipline Technical Coordination

• Work with Engineering to ensure P&IDs, shop drawings, and BOMs are delivered on schedule and support the fabrication timeline
• Coordinate across mechanical, electrical, controls, and instrumentation disciplines — not just pipe and steel
• Coordinate with Production on material availability, labor allocation, and fabrication sequencing across active jobs
• Work with Purchasing to issue requisitions, track long-lead items, and ensure vendor deliveries don’t hold up production
