As an intern with the Electrification and Automation (EA) division of Siemens Smart Infrastructure , you’ll gain hands‑on experience supporting power distribution systems that keep the world running today, while also being exposed to our Future Grids technologies that are shaping the power systems of tomorrow – all within a collaborative, impact‑driven environment.

We are seeking qualified candidates to join our Manufacturing Engineering Internship beginning in May or June 2027. This position will be based at our Raleigh, North Carolina office location.

You’ll make an impact by:
  • Developing and updating work instructions to support new product introductions and production ramp-up activities.
  • Performing process observations and time studies to support process development and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collecting and analyzing cycle time, productivity, and process data to identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Supporting CAD layout development for manufacturing processes and workstations.
  • Taking ownership of small improvement projects and developing recommendations based on data and analysis.
You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Process Engineering, or related engineering field and approaching completion of the required educational credentials for this opportunity.
  • Basic knowledge of engineering and manufacturing principles, including the ability to read and understand technical drawings and documentation.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the ability to work hands‑on in a manufacturing environment.
  • Eligible candidates must be located within 50 miles of Wendell, NC, as this role does not provide relocation support.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.
  • This internship is a structured experiential learning program for individuals currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program who will continue their studies following the assignment. Current and continuing enrollment is a condition of participation. Applicants who have completed or expect to complete their educational program before or during the assignment period are encouraged to explore our Early Career Development Program opportunities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Basic experience with CAD software.
  • Understanding of process improvement and Lean principles.
  • Experience performing data collection, analysis, or reporting activities.
  • Interest in project management, problem-solving, and continuous improvement initiatives.
