Power Systems Solutions Engineer About the Wholesale Industry /

The Opportunity:

Join a leading organization in the wholesale industry that delivers electrical distribution, industrial automation, and power modernization solutions designed to reduce costs, improve reliability, and enhance operational performance. This opportunity combines power systems expertise with consultative selling, allowing you to advise industrial manufacturers and utilities on low- and medium-voltage distribution, equipment modernization, and electrical studies. You will work closely with customers, suppliers, consultants, contractors, and internal teams to develop high-value solutions and drive measurable business results.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development of low- and medium-voltage power distribution modernization solutions based on customer requirements, industry trends, and market conditions.
  • Conduct customer assessments and develop opportunities for switch gear, breaker upgrades and retrofits, switchboards, panel boards, power monitoring systems, communications networks, and electrical studies.
  • Collaborate with customers, suppliers, consulting engineers, contractors, and internal sales and product teams to deliver compliant, practical solutions.
  • Develop relationships with key vendors and technical partners to strengthen solution capabilities and support customer outcomes.
  • Maintain a consistent onsite customer presence, lead management-level discussions, and generate a qualified pipeline of assessment and proposal opportunities.
  • Prepare modernization plans, technical proposals, presentations, project estimates, and RFQ responses using drawings, specifications, application data, and related information.
  • Manage CRM activity, forecasting, scheduling, engagement documentation, pipeline visibility, and results to support revenue and sales targets.
  • Apply solution architecture best practices, field assessment methodologies, business case templates, and product or service roadmaps to move proposals through decision and closure.
Must-Have

Skills:
  • At least five years of applied project experience in discrete or process industrial environments, including chemical, power generation, paper, or steel industries.
  • At least five years of experience with low- and medium-voltage power distribution and motor control systems.
  • Knowledge of induction, synchronous, and wound rotor motor technologies.
  • Experience with protection relay schemes, relay settings, protective relay coordination, short circuit analysis, load flow, voltage profile, motor starting voltage drop, cable sizing, and electrical studies.
  • Working knowledge of ETAP and proficiency with Eaton Bid Manager or comparable equipment configuration software.
  • Ability to interpret one-line diagrams, P&IDs, wiring and control schematics, physical drawings, equipment specifications, engineering data sheets, calculations, and grounding designs.
  • Knowledge of NEC, NFPA, UL-508, applicable IEEE standards, NFPA 70E, and typical industrial site safety requirements.
  • At least five years of direct customer relationship experience, including needs assessment, technical proposal development, presentations, consultative selling, and closing decisions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering preferred, or equivalent technical and industry experience.
Nice-to-Have

Skills:
  • Professional Engineer license or progress toward PE licensure.
  • Experience with power monitoring platforms and industrial communication networks and protocols.
  • Background with electrical equipment and solutions from Eaton, Schneider Electric, ABB, Siemens, or Rockwell Automation.
  • Experience supporting industrial modernization programs, equipment assessments, or consulting methodologies.
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms such as Salesforce, Hub Spot, or Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Experience with proposal governance, business case development, cost estimating, and solution roadmap creation.
  • Demonstrated quota attainment, pipeline management, demand generation, or revenue ownership in a technical sales environment.
