GIS Installation Trainee

A Snapshot of Your Day

As a GIS Service Supervisor Trainee, your day will involve working closely with the Grid Technology Service Substation Upgrades team on various Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) Service projects. You will assist in tasks such as assembly, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of GIS systems. Your role will require you to coordinate with team members and contractors, ensuring that projects are completed efficiently and safely while providing excellent customer service.

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Supervise and coordinate GIS Service projects at job sites, ensuring smooth operations.
• Learn to troubleshoot and analyze faults in GIS and related electrical equipment.
• Manage and guide contractors performing GIS service work.
• Interface with customers and partners to ensure successful completion of project tasks.
• Collaborate with team members in the field to address any issues that arise during work.
• Assist in creating proposals for GIS service projects, including planning and cost estimation.

What You Bring

• Degree: A foundational understanding of electrical engineering principles.
• Experience: No prior experience in GIS installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair is required, but a strong desire to learn is essential.
• Certification: A Siemens Energy HV GIS Certificate is preferred but not required.
• Construction Site Experience: Experience working on construction sites is beneficial but not mandatory.
• Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Personal Qualities: Self-confidence, strong work ethic, teamwork, organization, and dedication.
• Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
