We are seeking a Senior Aviation Planner to join our team in Raleigh, NC. The Senior Aviation Planner is responsible for leading and managing complex airport planning projects with a primary focus on landside planning, airport access studies, parking and curbside analyses, terminal-area planning, and traffic simulation modelling. This position serves as a technical leader, project manager, and client relationship manager, supporting airport clients through all phases of planning projects while contributing to business development, marketing, and strategic growth initiatives.
The ideal candidate combines strong aviation planning expertise with experience in VISSIM traffic modelling, project management, client engagement, and proposal development.
- Lead airport planning studies for commercial service, reliever, and general aviation airports.
- Prepare and manage Airport Master Plans, Airport Layout Plans (ALPs), terminal area studies, aviation demand forecasts, and feasibility studies.
- Conduct landside planning analyses, including:
Airport roadway systems. Terminal frontage and curbside operations. Parking demand and capacity analyses. Rental car facility planning. Ground transportation planning. Airport access and circulation studies. - Evaluate airport operational, infrastructure, and development needs utilizing FAA guidance and industry best practices.
- Develop planning recommendations that balance operational efficiency, safety, customer experience, and airport growth objectives.
- Coordinate with airport stakeholders, airlines, government agencies, and consultant teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Airport Planning, Aviation Management, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, or a related field required.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive airport planning experience, including leadership of complex airport planning assignments for commercial service, reliever, and general aviation airports.
- Demonstrated experience preparing and managing Airport Master Plans, Airport Layout Plans (ALPs), aviation demand forecasts, terminal area studies, and airport feasibility studies.
- Strong knowledge of FAA regulations, Advisory Circulars, airport design standards, and industry best practices related to airport planning and development.
- Experience conducting landside planning analyses, including airport access and circulation, roadway systems, terminal frontage operations, parking demand assessments, rental car facility planning, and ground transportation planning.
- Proven ability to evaluate airport operational, infrastructure, and development needs and develop strategic planning recommendations.
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced consulting environment.
