Campus Enterprises is NC State University's division of retail and hospitality organizations — NC State Dining, NC State Stores, Lonnie Poole Golf Course, NC State Student Centers (Witherspoon and Talley), and the One Card Office. Each unit is dedicated to service excellence, value, and the enrichment of the student experience in support of academic success. The Division offers employment opportunities across its retail and hospitality units with flexible schedules and opportunities for learning, growth, and promotion.
Responsibilities- Open/Close Talley Student Union and Witherspoon Student Center each day, ensuring health and safety protocols are met.
- Maintain facility cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance.
- Manage daily building operations and coordinate with event operations for a seamless experience.
- Lead a team of 2–6 for common area setups, rearrangement, removal or replacement.
- Communicate event and facility updates to relevant staff.
- Inspect common areas and assist with suite issues as needed.
- Complete maintenance reports, submit, and follow up on work orders.
- Engage with guests and clients to provide information about NC State and the Student Centers.
- Provide coverage at the information desk and loading dock as needed.
- Serve as the primary initial point of contact for non-routine issues.
- Respond to incidents, injuries, and crises.
- Complete detailed shift reports.
- Work special events and perform other duties as assigned.
- Attend and actively participate in mandatory staff meetings and trainings.
- Adhere to all NC State Student Centers policies and expectations.
- Provide exceptional customer service at all times.
Work Schedule: 30–40 hours per week, hours vary based on building hours and events. Must be available to work some evenings and/or weekends.
Other Work/Responsibilities: Willingness to support all functions of Student Centers; successful completion of the Building Manager training.
Minimum Experience/Education:
- High School Diploma
- Experience supervising student employees or part-time staff
- Strong interpersonal and organization skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a dynamic, customer-focused environment.
- Ability to work independently during evening and weekend hours
Department Required Skills:
- Experience working with teams that serve a broad range of individuals and backgrounds
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; effective communication with clients, supervisors, and peers
- Work well as part of a team
- Ability to work independently and be detail oriented
- Exemplary customer service skills
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education:
- Experience working in a student union or similar campus facility
- Familiarity with event/building setup, inventory control, and problem-solving skills
