Position: Senior Financial Institutions Operations Manager (Hybrid)

Overview

This is a hybrid role, with the expectation that time working will regularly take place inside and outside of a company office.

First Citizens Bank is seeking a Treasury Senior Manager to lead the Financial Institutions Operations team. This role is responsible for leading a team that provides critical support to the General and Commercial Banks Business Units, focusing on Bank Account management (internal and external), system configuration, Bank fee management, Key Performance and Risk Indicator reporting, advisory services to Business Units and compliance with policies and regulations.

In addition to overseeing day to day tasks, the Senior Manager will also be responsible for modernizing Banking Relations workflows, metric reporting and processes to enhance operational efficiencies and support the Bank’s continued growth. The successful candidate will collaborate across functions to mitigate risk, offer subject matter expertise, and implement key business strategies.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop the Banking Relations Operations team by providing direction, managing workloads, facilitating growth opportunities, and aligning responsibilities to optimize team performance while ensuring seamless day-to-day operations.
  • Oversee Bank Account management, including account opening, closing and maintenance changes (Internal and External accounts), system configuration in Treasury Workstation, bank account repository, general ledger, and producing the associated business reporting for the bank.
  • Manage the bank fee database, including pro‑forma management, monthly billing analysis, upload bank data files and review and resolve via case management with our banking partners.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders such as Cash Positioning team, Treasury Operations Support, Investment Operations, Accounting, Legal, Third‑Party Risk Management, Treasury, Tax, Technology, Risk Management and Liquidity management to drive initiatives and seamless day‑to‑day operations.
  • Ensure Regulatory reporting requirements are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Analyze front‑to‑back workflows and capabilities. Identify gaps and offer re‑engineering solutions to mitigate risk, improve data quality and/or realize efficiencies.
  • Maintain policies and procedures and ensure continued compliance. Partner with internal and external audit to answer questions and guide them through reviews. Implement action plans that address audit findings and self‑identified issues.
  • Champion a sense of continued, incremental improvement. Drive change and present achievements to stakeholders and senior management.
Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of experience in Banking Treasury/Finance OR High School Diploma or GED and 10 years of experience in Banking Treasury/Finance

  • 6+ years of experience or equivalent in a banking operations role, preferably or corporate treasury
  • 5+ years managing a team in a dynamic and fast‑paced environment
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in business or finance
  • Extensive knowledge of a treasury workstation, general ledger platforms and cash management services (i.e. lockbox, checks, ACH, ZBA etc.)
  • Knowledge of Anti‑Money Laundering (AML) and compliance requirements in the Banking Industry
  • Knowledge of FIS Quantum, People Soft Cash Management a plus
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills

Skill(s):
Experience with financial risk modeling - market risk, credit risk, or operational risk, Knowledge of spreadsheets and databases

If hired in NJ, the base pay for this position is generally between $126,848 and $185,000. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non‑discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
