Position OverviewAs an accountant, you will play an important role in day-to-day financial operations by managing complex budgets and ensuring compliance with university, state, and federal requirements. In this role, you will collaborate closely with business partners across multiple units to provide financial guidance that supports accurate reporting, responsible stewardship of resources, and efficient business processes.
Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting & Budgeting (40%)- Prepare, manage, and analyze complex budgets, including state appropriations, receipts, and trust funds.
- Maintain budget projections and tracking tools; analyze financial data, recommend adjustments, and process corrections or reversals as needed.
- Monitor special funds and allocations to ensure alignment with approved budgets.
- Perform monthly budget reviews and prepare financial summary reports for leadership.
- Initiate and coordinate travel authorizations and reimbursements for supported units.
- Conduct first-level reviews of travel transactions for accuracy and compliance; identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for travel-related questions and workflow support.
- Review monthly PCard compliance reports and resolve identified discrepancies.
- Audit assigned PCard transactions and statements for accuracy and policy adherence.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for PCard-related inquiries and provide support to reconcile rs.
- Support leadership by initiating financial transactions, including vouchers, actuals journals, and interdepartmental transactions.
- Provide backup support for purchase orders, new vendor setup, and first-level contract reviews.
- Participate in meetings related to finance and business administration at the unit and university level.

- Minimum Experience/
Education:
Bachelor's degree with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework; or Associate's degree in accounting; or Associate's degree in business or related discipline with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework; or equivalent combination of training and experience - Department
Required Skills:
Ability to comprehend and effectively communicate business processes and policy requirements across the organization;
Ability to self-direct activities and prioritize tasks;
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision - Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training,
Education:
Experience working in higher education or governmental environments;
Experience with processing transactions in People Soft Financials, or similar financial software;
Knowledge of Wolfpack Reporting System, and Google Applications preferred - Required License or Certification: N/A
