As a Senior Manager in our Tax Credits and Incentives Advisory (TCIA) Practice
, you will leverage your accounting and taxation expertise to deliver top‑tier tax equity investment consulting services for our diverse range of clients. You will lead a talented team of professionals who are well‑versed in the credits and incentives sector, especially focusing on the Inflation Reduction Act Energy Credits
.
At Cherry Bekaert, we understand the intricate structure required to optimize clean energy tax credit transactions for maximum monetization. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and expand a small but impactful team, driving the growth of Cherry Bekaert's renewable energy practice
. Key elements to develop this practice include:
- Investment Tax Credits (ITCs) for solar, wind, storage, etc. (Sections 48/48E)
- Production Tax Credits (Sections 45/45E)
- Clean Fuel (Section 45Z)
- Advanced Manufacturing (Section 45X)
- Nuclear (Section 45U)
- Carbon Sequestration (Section 45Q)
- Experience with Transferability rules (Section 6418) and prior credit transferability transactions.
- Familiarity with the Direct Pay regime (Section 6417).
- Expertise in eligible basis substantiation.
- Proficiency in cost segregation support.
- Prevailing wage & apprenticeship
- Domestic content
- Energy Community qualification
- Understanding of Foreign Entity of Concern rules.
- Awareness of credit recapture risk.
General knowledge of tax equity transaction mechanics.
The ideal candidates will enhance our market presence by participating in webinars and publishing insightful articles. You will collaborate closely with core tax partners to discover and pursue credit transfer opportunities, while also working with external brokers and companies involved in the tax credit transfer market.
What you bring to the role:- 7+ years of experience in tax planning or preparing and reviewing client work papers and income tax returns.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related business field.
- Solid knowledge of HLBV Accounting Concepts.
- Certification or progress toward CPA, enrolled agent, or related credentials.
- Expertise in financial modeling.
- Willingness to travel up to 10% as needed.
- Experience with a Big 4 firm.
- Capability to thrive in a fast‑paced team environment.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of fund accounting and general ledger accounting principles.
- Understanding of Subchapter K and investment partnership taxation.
- Comprehensive understanding of tax equity investment structures.
- Familiarity with investment and production tax credits tied to wind, solar, and biomass projects.

Individual salaries may vary based on factors such as role, experience, education, skills, and location.
