Overview
The Controller will lead all accounting and financial reporting functions and serve as a key partner to our executive team. We are looking for an individual who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and is capable of building strong financial processes, improving reporting accuracy, and ensuring the company is positioned for sustainable growth.
This is a high-impact role designed for someone who enjoys both strategic leadership and getting into the details.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee all accounting operations, including AP, AR, payroll, job costing, inventory, and general ledger.
- Produce accurate, timely monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).
- Manage the month-end close process to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Assist in annual budgeting and financial planning processes.
- Build rolling forecasts to help leadership anticipate revenue, expenses, and cash needs.
- Monitor and manage cash flow daily; provide forward-looking insights and recommendations.
- Evaluate pricing, labor, and overhead impacts on margins.
- Implement and refine job-costing processes to ensure accurate profitability reporting by department and location.
- Work closely with operations leadership to understand drivers of profitability and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure internal controls are effective and scalable.
- Maintain compliance with GAAP and applicable state/federal requirements.
- Lead improvements in accounting systems and processes; streamline workflows for efficiency.
- Oversee external audits, tax preparation, and acquisition integration.
- Support QA across all software systems including financial reporting, payroll, CRM, and field software.
- Manage and develop a small finance/accounting team.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to ownership and leadership, translating financial insights into actionable recommendations.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred but not required).
- Experience: 7+ years of progressive accounting experience; at least 2 years in a Controller or similar leadership role.
- Technical
Skills:
Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and cash-flow management. Proficiency with accounting systems (Quick Books experience preferred). Experience with service management platforms is a plus. - Soft Skills: Exceptional analytical skills and the ability to communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
