Local Government Federal Credit Union seeks a Vice President, Audit Services within our Auditing and Compliance department. In the Banking, Insurance & Investment industry, this leader will design and oversee the internal audit program, ensure regulatory and policy compliance, and provide independent assurance to senior leadership and the Board. You will assess risk, lead audit planning and execution, and recommend process and control improvements.
The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, financial services audit experience, and a commitment to community service, innovation, and cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Develop, lead, and execute a risk-based internal audit plan covering all areas of the credit union's operations and services.
- Provide independent assurance to executive leadership and the Board on the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management, and governance practices.
- Oversee the planning, scoping, and execution of operational, financial, IT, and compliance audits, including review and approval of audit programs and work papers.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the internal audit team, setting performance expectations and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and ethical conduct.
- Identify, evaluate, and communicate key risks and control gaps, ensuring clear reporting of findings and timely, effective remediation by business owners.
- Serve as primary liaison with regulators and external auditors, coordinating examinations, responding to requests, and ensuring timely follow-up on issues identified.
- Use data analytics and technology tools to enhance audit coverage, efficiency, and insight into emerging risks such as cybersecurity, third-party risk, and digital banking.
- Collaborate with leaders across the organization to provide consultative input on new products, services, systems, and major initiatives from a risk and control perspective.
- Monitor changes in laws, regulations, and industry best practices affecting credit unions, integrating them into the audit plan and methodology.
- Regularly present audit plans, results, risk themes, and remediation status to executive management and the Board's Audit or Risk Committee in a clear, concise manner.

- Internal auditing in financial institutions

- Financial analysis and GAAP knowledge
