Descriptionof Work
This position is designated as Exempt Policy-Making under G.S. 126-5(c)(3) and is considered an at-will appointment. The Office of the State Auditor (OSA) is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to serve on our Data Analytics Division and support audit efforts by leading complex data analysis. As part of our team, you will get to:
- Identify risk indicators and develop tools to enhance audit effectiveness
- Design and develop interactive dashboards, data visualizations, and reporting tools that clearly communicate findings and drive decision-making
- Identify trends, anomalies, and performance issues in state agency and internal operational data
- Provide quality assurance and peer review for analysis and visual products developed by junior analysts
- Collaborate with audit teams to define data needs and deliver insights that enhance audit planning, fieldwork, and reporting

/Competencies
- Advanced skills in data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms
- Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language commonly used for analysis (e.g., Python, R)
- Demonstrated ability to communicate data-driven findings through compelling visual narratives
