Description of Work Reporting to the Correctional Lieutenant II, this position provides supervision of subordinate officers and their assigned tasks and activities regarding the custody and welfare of male offenders in a Medium custody state correctional facility. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Assigning lower-level custody staff to a particular area or post.

- Overseeing officer activities and performance and ensuring that the custody, security, and welfare of offenders is maintained.

- Arranging work schedules to ensure shift coverage, implementing operational procedures, and ensuring rules and regulations are followed according to policy. May serve as the Officer-in-Charge (OIC).

- Supervising offenders in restrictive housing.

- Conducting shift line-up, making shift assignments, and inspecting all personnel to determine if they are physically and mentally capable of assuming an assigned post.

- Completing, reviewing, and maintaining time reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, performance evaluations, and administrative forms.

- Completing Incident Reports, Use of Force, Disciplinaries, and Grievances.

Necessary Special Qualifications :

MUST be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.

Pass a criminal background check

Produce a negative drug screening result

Successfully complete medical and psychological evaluations

Possess a valid driver’s license
