Team and RoleWe are currently searching for an Advanced Practice Provider, preferably with experience but open to strong new graduate candidates, to join our NC Urology team at Rex/UNC Main Hospital and Rex/UNC Holly Springs Hospital (APP would work in both locations). The ideal applicant will be focused on patient‑centered care, motivated, able to multitask, manage a variety of common Urological conditions (acute and chronic), and will work as a team alongside three Surgeons and a team of APPs.
This position will span Monday through Friday. It will include a combination of Inpatient rounds and consults, Clinic, and Operating room (especially Robotics); the hospital and clinic setting are side by side in both locations. Call is required one night weekly, and also one weekend per month. Clinic patients may include, but are not limited to, postoperative patients, common Urological conditions, wound care, Foley care and TOVs, cancer surveillance, and triage.
Duties will also include responding to patient questions, concerns, and care plans.
- Clinical – Obtains relevant health and medical history, performs thorough physical assessment, reviews and interprets pertinent diagnostic tests/results, develops appropriate differential diagnoses, implements treatment plans including prescribing/ordering of appropriate evidence‑based pharmacological agents consistent with departmental guidelines and privileging, schedules appropriate follow‑up management, incorporates evidence‑based hospital initiatives, conducts preventive health screening, maintains clear records, preserves knowledge of general disease and pathology, derives correct diagnoses, revises plan of care, prioritizes work, assists staff, maintains high productivity, leads projects to improve productivity, performs medical procedures consistent with departmental guidelines, privileging, and clinical roles/responsibilities.
- Education – Educates clients/families regarding medical condition, treatment, and follow‑up, collaborates with clinicians and staff to promote continuity and patient/family‑centered care, develops educational materials, provides education/instruction to physicians, house staff, nursing, ancillaries and/or students, recognizes and participates in self‑learning needs, attends education programs.
- Leadership – Provides instruction to physicians, house staff, nursing, ancillaries and/or students including precepting, shadowing, lectures, training classes, CE, rounds, morning report, and staff meetings, participates in community/network outreach programs, develops/leads community/network outreach programs, demonstrates understanding of the contexts and system in which healthcare is provided, leads/participates in systems improvements.
- Professional – Interacts with patients and families respectfully, collaborates with coworkers, responds quickly to meet customer needs and resolve problems, accepts responsibility for outcomes of one’s work, shares responsibility for overall workload with team members.
- Quality/Research – Engages in continuous quality improvement by identifying and implementing processes for improvement, consults with management in assessment, problem‑solving, decision‑making, evaluates clinical/system issues and models of care, leads interdisciplinary teams, initiates and revises protocol(s) or guideline(s), influences policy‑making bodies, develops new clinical programs or services within the department/unit/clinic to improve patient care.
- Completion of an accredited graduate‑level Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) program.
- Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider (i.e., Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) in the state of North Carolina.
- Board certification if required by the Department. DEA.
- No prior experience required.
