** Description of Work
** This position is part of the Division of Child and Family Well-Being. The Division of Child and Family Well-Being (DCFW) is at the NC Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) that focuses on supporting whole child and family health and well-being for North Carolinians with several sections including Food and Nutrition Services, Community Nutrition Services, Early Intervention, and Whole Child Health.
The WIC nutrition Services unit (WNSU) is a part of the Community Nutrition Services Section (CNSS) of the Division of Child and Family Well-Being (DCFW) in the Department of Health and Human Services. The Community Nutrition Services Section works to reduce food insecurity for North Carolina’s families and children. The Section includes the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), the WIC Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (FMNP), and the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).
The WIC Program provides targeted nutrition intervention to supplement diets, nutrition education (including breastfeeding promotion and support), and referrals to health and other social services. WIC is funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). County health departments, community and rural health centers, and community action agencies provide WIC Program services to North Carolina women, infants and children in all 100 counties across the state.  

The primary purpose of this position is to develop program policy, procedures, and implementation guidance related to participant and clinical services for nutrition assessment and medical nutritional eligibility for the Special Supplemental Nutrition program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) and to support quality assurance of nutrition program through program monitoring and evaluation. This position reports to the WIC policy and Quality Assurance Team Lead.

** Experience working in scope of Registered Dietitian reflecting knowledge of principles and practices of normal and therapeutic nutrition and its relationship to growth, chronic disease, or nutrition needs across the lifespan with a special focus on woman and children.
* Experience using skills to analyze, interpret, recommend, and/or implement policy and procedure guidelines.
* Communicate clearly and effectively both in oral and written form such as needed to prepare and present educational and training materials to professional and lay groups.
