Laboratory Inspection Consultant

Carolina Safety & Health Consultants, LLC is hiring four qualified subcontractor consultants to conduct university-based laboratory inspections, including fume hood and biological hood assessments. All inspections will be performed in accordance with the client’s internal protocols and OSHA regulation 29 CFR  to ensure compliance with laboratory safety standards.

Location: Raleigh, North Carolina (minimal travel within NC)

Training and Experience Requirements:

• BS degree in a physical science (physics, engineering, chemistry, biology, industrial hygiene, occupational safety)
• Current CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist) or CSP (Certified Safety Professional) certification
• Minimum five years of relevant professional experience

Knowledge and

Skills Required:

• Candidates must possess a thorough understanding of laboratory safety standards, chemical hygiene plans, and relevant OSHA regulations.
• Strong analytical and observational skills are required to assess laboratory environments and identify potential hazards. Additionally, proficiency in conducting fume hood and biological hood inspections, interpreting technical data, and delivering clear, concise reports is essential.
• Effective communication and interpersonal abilities are needed to collaborate with our Field Operations Coordinator and client’s personnel to ensure compliance with safety protocols.
• Familiarity with laboratory equipment and procedures, as well as the ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments, will contribute to success in this role.
• Familiarity with Environmental Health and Safety Administration (EHSA) guidelines and best practices is required, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and ongoing improvements in laboratory safety protocols.
• Work independently, manage multiple assignments, and have working knowledge and familiarity with Microsoft Office products, including MS Word and Excel, for preparing reports, analyzing data, and maintaining accurate documentation.

Expected

Work Schedule:

Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (40 hours/week)

Assignment Duration:

Minimum two months, with possibility of extension

Pay Rate: $75 per hour
