Temporary HR Operations Manager at NC State
Work ScheduleHybrid schedule:
Four days in-office (Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri) and one day remote (Wed). Monday–Friday (8 AM–5 PM).
The Temporary HR Operations Manager will provide interim oversight and operational leadership for key human resources functions within the division during a transitional period. This role will ensure continuity, compliance, and operational stability across HR functional areas, including hiring, timekeeping, payroll, leave administration, records management, benefits coordination, and position and salary administration. The temporary employee will serve as a subject matter resource and provide guidance to staff responsible for these areas, ensuring adherence to university policies, regulatory requirements, and established best practices.
The Temporary HR Operations Manager will function as an advanced HR consultant, supporting division leadership and HR staff by interpreting and communicating university policies and ensuring the consistent application of established procedures and best practices. The position will oversee compliance in hiring processes, review job postings and classification actions, support oversight of timekeeping and leave administration, and ensure accurate and timely reporting through systems such as People Soft, AiM, People Admin, and Wolftime.
The role will also maintain and update essential HR process documentation as needed, generate ad‑hoc reports upon request, and collaborate closely with University Human Resources.
Other duties as needed.
QualificationsMinimum Experience/
Education:
Two years of progressively responsible experience analyzing, interpreting, applying, communicating and promoting HR best practices.
- Experience in HR operations and management, with a strong understanding of HR best practices.
- Knowledge of labor laws and payroll regulations.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Proficiency with HRIM software.
Preferred:
- Experience working within a university or higher education environment.
- PHR or SHRM certification preferred, but not required.
