The Cloud Engineer I will play a key role in implementing, configuring, and managing Azure cloud infrastructure in a secure, scalable, and compliant manner. This position supports a large public‑sector environment and requires collaboration with senior architects, development, and security teams to ensure successful deployment and management of cloud resources.
Only candidates currently residing in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill (Triangle) region will be considered, as in‑person interviews and periodic onsite work are required.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the setup and configuration of Azure core subscriptions
, resource groups
, and cloud environments
. - Implement and manage Azure Policies
, RBAC permissions
, and tagging standards as per governance frameworks. - Deploy and maintain core Azure networking components
, including VWAN
, Azure Firewall
, VNets
, NSGs
, Private Endpoints
, and VPN/Express Route connections. - Configure and support Azure Application Gateways and associated services for secure traffic management.
- Contribute to infrastructure automation efforts using Bicep
, ARM templates
, and Power Shell scripting
. - Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity and application performance issues across Azure and on‑prem environments.
- Participate in incident management and assist in root cause analysis for cloud‑related issues.
- Monitor Azure environments, configure alerting, logging
, and diagnostic tools for proactive issue detection. - Collaborate with architecture, development, and security teams on infrastructure deployments and enhancements.
- Enforce and support cloud governance, security, and compliance standards across Azure environments.
- 3+ years of hands‑on experience managing and deploying Azure landing zone architectures in enterprise environments.
- Strong proficiency in Azure networking
, including VWAN
, Express Route
, VPN
, Firewalls
, and VNET management. - Experience designing Azure environments following a private‑by‑default approach and enforcing policies to prevent public exposure.
- Proficiency with Azure Policies
, Role‑Based Access Control (RBAC), and resource tagging strategies
. - Solid problem‑solving and communication skills
, with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross‑functional teams.
- AZ‑305: Microsoft Certified – Azure Solutions Architect Expert
- Other relevant Microsoft Azure certifications are a plus.
