Data Modeler (Financial Services)

Key Responsibilities

• Engage directly with business stakeholders to gather, document, and clarify data requirements
• Design, develop, and maintain logical and physical data models using Dimensional and Data Vault methodologies
• Translate business requirements into scalable, well-structured database designs
• Design and implement database tables and structures optimized for analytics and downstream consumption
• Perform database analysis to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and usability
• Develop, optimize, and validate SQL queries to support reporting and data quality checks
• Collaborate with ETL and data engineering teams to enable reliable data integration across cloud platforms
• Support BAU data initiatives in a fast-paced, regulated banking environment
• Partner with BI and analytics teams to ensure data models effectively support Power BI and/or Tableau reporting
• Ensure data models align with enterprise architecture standards, financial domain best practices, and future integration initiatives (e.g., data hubs or nexus environments)

Required Qualifications (Must Have)

• Must be local to Raleigh, NC and willing to work onsite at the North Hills location
• Strong experience in finance or banking environments
• Proven expertise in Dimensional Data Modeling
• Solid background in relational database design and database analysis
• Advanced SQL skills
• Experience working with ETL processes and cloud-based data platforms
• Experience supporting BI tools such as Power BI and/or Tableau
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work directly with business stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

• Hands-on experience with Data Vault modeling
• Experience with Oracle databases
• Familiarity with enterprise data hubs or nexus-style architectures
• Experience with dbt (data build tool)
