The Compliance Analyst is a member of Merz’s Legal and Compliance team and is responsible for supporting the Compliance organization by transforming diverse data into actionable risk insights and automated monitoring. This role designs and maintains analytics and Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Machine Learning (ML) solutions (including NLP/GenAI where appropriate) to detect potential compliance risks (e.g., promotional practices, HCP engagements, transparency/Open Payments) while ensuring controls meet regulatory expectations and internal policies and procedures.

The ideal candidate blends strong data engineering/analytics skills with applied AI literacy, model governance, and a practical understanding of pharmaceutical compliance frameworks.

Major

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain dashboards and analytics to monitor high risk activities (e.g., speaker programs, HCP spend, Medical Information Requests, grants/donations, samples/PDMA, Investigations) using structured and unstructured data (CRM, transparency reporting, expense systems).
  • Implement AI/ML techniques (classification, anomaly detection, topic modeling) to surface patterns and outliers in near real time; partner with Compliance Management to refine rules and thresholds.
AI Solutions in a Regulated Context
  • Support the creation of Compliance Chat Bot and on-going maintenance, support, and improvement of the bot.
  • Document models and data pipelines (purpose, data sources, features, performance, monitoring, change logs) to meet internal AI governance and model risk standards.
  • Ingest, cleanse, and harmonize data from CRM, Med Information, Grants/Transparency, Finance/AP, Learning systems, and third party sources (e.g., Open Payments).
  • Implement data quality checks, lineage, and reconciliation processes; steward data dictionaries and metadata for re use.
Compliance Advisory & Collaboration
  • Translate monitoring findings into clear narratives, metrics, and recommendations for Compliance leadership as well as Merz leadership team.
  • Contribute analytics input to risk assessments, investigations, monitoring plans, and corrective/preventive actions.
Support Global Initiatives
  • Participate in global initiatives, such as the Global AI Task Force to ensure that US representation is a foundation of resulting governance and standards.
  • Assist the Global Legal & Governance team with operationalizing data analytics and AI solutions for the global framework.
  • Support the implementation and roll-out of LEAH (formerly known as Contract Pod AI or other CM systems in the US and contribute to the on-going global maintenance of the system.
  • Drive the implementation, optimization, and maintenance of legal department processes, workflows, and standard operating procedures to increase efficiency and consistency.
  • Maintain and improve knowledge and document management systems, ensuring easy access to templates, playbooks, guidelines, and training materials for legal and compliance teams.
  • Support legal spend management with tool-based analytics.
