Production Support Engineer – Java & AWS

About the role

In this role, you will provide hands-on production support for critical applications, ensuring stability, performance, and timely issue resolution across complex distributed systems. You will analyze incidents, troubleshoot technical issues, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and support continuous improvements in monitoring, reliability, and operational excellence. Your work will directly contribute to maintaining seamless business operations and enhancing the overall customer experience.

• Provide hands-on production support, including analysis and troubleshooting of production incidents.
• Use monitoring tools such as Dynatrace and log analysis tools like Splunk to identify and resolve issues.
• Work with Java 11, Spring Boot, REST and SOAP Web Services, MS SQL Server, and AWS Cloud to support and maintain production systems.
• Create monitoring dashboards and alerts using Splunk, Dynatrace, or similar tools.
• Utilize AWS services including Cloud Watch, Lambda, RDS, S3, and EC2.
• Debug SOAP/RESTful web services and Spring Boot microservices to triage production issues.
• Lead and participate in P1–P2 incident calls, ensuring timely follow-up and driving permanent fixes.
• Support minor enhancements as needed.
• Participate in daily and weekly stand-ups with customers, delivery teams, and other stakeholders.
• Collaborate with cross-workstream teams to ensure smooth operations and issue resolution.
• Work with performance teams to evaluate and resolve performance-related issues.
• Communicate effectively through strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrate a proactive, self-starting mindset with a strong work ethic and a passion for learning new technologies.

• Hands-on production support experience, including incident analysis and troubleshooting.
• Strong experience with Java 11, Spring Boot, REST & SOAP Web Services, MS SQL Server, and AWS Cloud.
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Dynatrace and log analysis tools like Splunk.
• Ability to debug SOAP/RESTful web services and Spring Boot microservices for production triage.

• Experience creating dashboards and alerts in Splunk, Dynatrace, or similar tools.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services including Cloud Watch, Lambda, RDS, S3, and EC2.
• Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional and cross-workstream teams.
• Ability to lead high-priority incident calls and drive long-term solutions.
• Experience working with performance teams to resolve performance issues.
• A proactive, can-do attitude with a passion for technology and continuous learning.
• Strong communication, listening, and stakeholder-management skills.

The annual salary for this position is between $55,350 to $82,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
