UTS - Temporary Instructional Technology Support at NC State
The NC State department is looking for an Instructional Technology Support person who will provide academic technology support to faculty, staff, and students; assist with college-level administration support of academic technology systems; create support documentation for enterprise and college-supported academic technologies; and assist with implementation of new academic technology tools.
This position will report to the Director and will collaborate closely with other teams.
Position Responsibilities- Provide technical support for University and academic technology systems, which currently include Moodle learning management system, Exam Soft secure assessment platform, Medtrics medical education management platform, Top Hat and Woo Clap engagement platforms, Panopto video streaming platform, and Google Workspace.
- Assist with the preparation of the University and academic technology systems for each academic term.
- Create job aids, infographics, videos, animations, and other content that supplements support efforts.
- Assist with the adoption and implementation of new academic technology innovations into the veterinary education curriculum.
- Manage user access for University and academic technology systems.
- Assist with routine software updates for a loaner pool of laptops and iPads used during assessments as needed.
- Work collaboratively and effectively with faculty and staff throughout the university and with various University organizations to improve efficiencies in the set up and support processes of academic technology systems.
This is a time‑limited position, 2–3 months with a possibility of extension.

- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Technology, Educational Technology, Information Technology, Computer Science, Educational Media, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of professional experience providing academic technology support, instructional technology support, or related technical support in an educational or enterprise environment.
- Work schedule:
Monday–Friday (8 AM–5 PM). - Other duties as needed.
- Ability to competently perform tasks as a super‑user or administrator of current academic technology systems, including learning management systems, assessment and engagement platforms, and video streaming/management platforms.
- Efficient and expert use of applications such as Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, or the equivalent.
- Competent use of academic technology systems.
- Experience using a help request ticketing system.
- Ability to design and develop support materials.
- Experience designing and producing compelling graphics, infographics, and screen‑capture videos using Adobe Creative Suite (Acrobat Pro, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), Articulate 360, Camtasia, and/or other tools of the trade.
- Experience performing routine software updates on devices (Windows and Mac).
- Experience completing projects, both independently and collaboratively, using a process‑oriented approach.
- Familiarity with synchronous and asynchronous training development.
- Awareness of usability and accessibility considerations for academic technology.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to support a wide variety of faculty, staff, and students across diverse college departments.
- High level of independence and initiative.
- Experience with NC State University and academic technology systems, which currently include Moodle, Exam Soft, Panopto, Top Hat, and Google Workspace.
- Experience using Service Now to track help requests.
- Experience working in a higher education setting.
- Ability to competently assist others with implementing WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards.
