Role and the Department

The role will act as the deputy for, and assist, the IS Senior Manager (Integrations) to deliver effective integration solutions to the University. It sits within the wider Information Services (IS) collection of teams underpinning the delivery of customer focused information systems and services.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the IS Senior Manager (Integrations) in line management and professional development of a high‑performing Integrations team.
  • Support academic and professional departments in understanding data custodian responsibilities and help make strategic decisions to adopt centralised data models.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of software integration solutions across the university’s enterprise applications, evaluating existing components or systems to determine integration requirements and ensuring final solutions meet organisational architecture principles.
  • Develop test cases and new methods to accelerate the integration task, and document integration processes for different stakeholders.
  • Support ongoing maintenance and enhancement of the university’s integration environments.
  • Develop and implement automation scripts for operational and analytical improvements.
  • Lead the deployment of software builds and integration, develop and test automation scripts, and troubleshoot failures.
  • Work closely with Professional Support and Academic departments to support and identify requirements or improvements for integration.
Qualifications / Experience
  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent experience).
  • Professional IT practitioner with knowledge and expertise in IT service provision.
  • Experience of participating in internal or external networks to share and discuss best practice and develop strong and productive working relationships.
  • Experience of delivering and developing specialist IT provision services.
  • Experience of providing specialist advice and guidance to a range of customers and colleagues, including senior colleagues.
  • Experience of implementing policies and procedures and supporting service improvements.
  • Experience of managing and developing a team or teams and/or a line management qualification.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
  • Experience working within enterprise architecture frameworks, integration standards, or data governance models.
  • Experience of influencing without authority, particularly across academic and professional services boundaries.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts for a wide range of senior or executive non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in all stages of the software development life cycle.
  • Experience in at least three mainstream high‑level programming languages, e.g., C++, Java.
  • Exposure to working with third‑party APIs including knowledge of software development using REST and SOAP APIs in an Oracle environment.
  • Knowledge of Oracle or SQL Server relational databases and database programming using PL/SQL or TSQL.
  • Working knowledge of a mainstream integration platform, for example, SSIS, Mule Soft, ODICS, etc.
  • Committed to continuing professional development to maintain professional recognition.
  • Ability to solve problems and decide on and plan appropriate solutions.
  • Knowledge and experience of health and safety issues such as risk assessments.
  • Knowledge and experience of ensuring compliance with regulatory and organisational policy and guidelines.
