Position Overview
The College of Veterinary Medicine IT (CVM IT) team is seeking motivated and dependable student technicians to provide Tier 1 technical support across the Veterinary Hospital, academic classrooms, research labs, and administrative offices on the Veterinary Campus. Student Technicians serve as the first point of contact for faculty, staff, and students seeking technology assistance. The role offers hands‑on experience in desktop support, classroom and audiovisual (AV) technology, Service Now ticket management, and exposure to specialized veterinary systems such as PACS and LIS.
Pending favorable performance, employment may be extended through summer terms and subsequent semesters.

Responsibilities- Assist the CVM IT AV Coordinator with setup, troubleshooting, and maintenance of AV systems in classrooms, conference rooms, and meeting spaces.
- Provide in‑room technical assistance for lectures, seminars, and hospital rounds.
- Perform routine testing of microphones, cameras, projectors, and display systems to ensure reliability.
- Support installation, inventory, and documentation of AV equipment across the Veterinary Campus.
- Provide Tier 1 support via phone, email, and in‑person at the CVM IT Front Desk.
- Configure and deploy laptops and desktops for faculty, staff, and student use.
- Install and support approved software and hardware peripherals (printers, scanners, etc.).
- Log, categorize, and document incidents in Service Now.
- Contribute to knowledge base articles and procedural documentation.
- Maintain and organize IT work areas, tools, and inventory.
- Participate in special projects such as equipment refreshes, network upgrades, and audit tasks.
- Attend team meetings, required training sessions, and performance appraisals.
- Support CVM IT staff with additional duties as assigned.
Undergraduate student in computer science or related program.
Required Skills- Professionalism and strong communication skills (verbal and written).
- Eagerness to learn and assist teammates in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to follow technical procedures and work independently on routine tasks.
- Reliability and punctuality for scheduled shifts.
- Commitment to maintaining required weekly/monthly hours.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Adherence to all university and departmental policies.
- Experience with classroom technology, microphones, projectors, and control systems.
- Windows and macOS troubleshooting.
- Basic knowledge of networking, printers, and computer hardware installation.
- Familiarity with Service Now or other ticketing systems.
- Understanding of project management or IT documentation fundamentals.
