A Senior Network Engineer position just opened up with our DoD/DHA client. In this role you will serve as the lead network subject matter expert (SME) for CONUS and global operations, ensuring secure, high-performing LAN/WLAN/WAN infrastructure in support of the DoD medical mission. You must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related and an active Secret Clearance. CCNP and CISSP Certifications are also required.

Compensation: $125,000 to $155,000/year depending on experience
Duration: 5 year contract
Schedule:
Remote;
Travel required as needed to designated hospitals

OverviewServes as the lead network subject matter expert (SME) for CONUS and global operations, ensuring secure, high-performing LAN/WLAN/WAN infrastructure in support of the DoD medical mission. Acts as the primary escalation point for complex network issues and drives standards, policy, and performance optimization across all DHA facilities.
Responsibilities Enterprise Network Leadership- Serve as the primary CONUS and global point of contact for network engineering and operations
- Lead and coordinate network specialists and cross-functional teams
- Design, install, configure, and manage LAN/WLAN/WAN infrastructure
- Troubleshoot complex network issues across all OSI layers
- Support routing, switching, and multi-protocol environments
- Utilize tools such as Solar Winds (Orion), ARMIS, and Ansible
- Analyze performance using MIB, MRTG, and network diagnostic tools
- Implement and manage firewalls, VPNs, and IDS systems
- Maintain secure LAN/WAN boundary protections
- Ensure compliance with DoD/DHA standards and policies
- Develop and maintain network standards, procedures, and best practices
- Coordinate with NetMOD Network Standards Team
- Recommend upgrades, tuning, and operational improvements
- Advise government personnel and partners on network design and deployment
- Provide status updates and technical guidance to leadership
- Bachelor’s degree + 5 years relevant experience OR Technical/Vocational training + 10 years experience
- CCNP, CISSP Certifications
- Active DoD Secret Clearance
- IAM Level III (DoD 8570/8140 compliant)
- Ability to perform duties across subordinate network roles
- Core protocols: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, SNMP
- Network technologies:
Ethernet, WAN, routing/switching, VPNs - OSI model troubleshooting (all layers)
- Microsoft OS, Active Directory, UNIX, OpenVMS
- Network hardware (routers, switches, terminal servers)
- Testing tools (OTDR, cable testers, sniffers)
- DoD/DHA network environments
- Zero Trust Architecture experience
