Systems Engineer III DNS/DHCP
PlanIT Group is seeking a Systems Engineer III DNS/DHCP for our Federal customer in the Raleigh, NC area. The ideal candidate will be a Systems Engineer to administer/troubleshoot Proxy and DNS technologies such as Broadcom Bluecoat and Blue Cat DNS on various projects. The role requires a technically savvy consultant who can troubleshoot existing complex Blue Coat implementations and lead in the design and implementation of new enterprise-wide or global Blue Coat product deployments.
A deep technical understanding of Blue Coat Application Delivery Network technology pillars including Visibility, Acceleration, and Security solutions.
Responsibilities include:
- Configure, administer, document DNS multi-view configuration, DHCP services.
- High level troubleshooting of network, protocols, and application issues
- IP mgmt., DNS, DHCP administration
- API scripting in python.
- Linux administration to include scripting and file system management.
- Adhere to strict Information Systems security guidelines in all cases.
- Works on high-visibility, or mission critical aspects of a given program, and performs all functional duties independently.
- Oversees the efforts of direct reporting resources and/or be responsible for the efforts of all staff assigned to a specific job.
Required Skills:
- HTTP proxy configuration, integration, and administration expertise.
- DNS configuration, scripting of API calls.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, UDP/IP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/s and HTTP proxy.
- IP Mgmt, DNS, DHCP configuration, scripting of API calls.
- Knowledge of TCP, understanding network, protocol, and application traffic flows.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic network issues including IPv

Education Requirements:
A minimum of eight (8) to twelve (12) years' relevant experience. A degree from an accredited College/University in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field or equivalent experience. Four (4) additional years of relevant experience in lieu of a college degree is required. If the individual's degree is not in the applicable field, then four additional years of related experience is required.
Certifications:
Certification in networking technologies (e.g., CCNA, CompTIA Network+).
Desired
Skills:
Experience with APIs, scripting, and Splunk data flows. Preferred Perl, python, and JavaScript. Strong understanding of DNS and DHCP. Linux administration to include scripting and file system management. Proficient with application layer protocols – HTTP, SSH, SSL, etc. Blue Cat DNS Platform. Infoblox DNS.
Additional Provisions:
Must be able to obtain a Position of Public Trust Clearance. Pass both a client mandated clearance process to include drug screening, criminal history check and credit check. All candidates must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident only. Candidate must have lived in the United States for the past 5 years. Cannot have more than 6 months travel outside the United States within the last five years.
