The Lead Data Engineer will support and enhance the PATH NC child welfare data ecosystem, ensuring a stable, secure, and user‑centered data platform that integrates Salesforce, Mule Soft, Power BI, Synapse, and mainframe data sources. This role leads the design, development, and delivery of scalable data pipelines, models, and integrations that maintain system reliability, meet defined data‑quality standards, and uphold strong security and governance practices.
The engineer will troubleshoot and resolve data issues within established SLAs, translate stakeholder needs into data solutions that improve accuracy, accessibility, and measurable analytic value, and guide the evolution of data flows across connected systems. The position also evaluates and introduces new data technologies, modernizes the data environment through incremental improvements, and ensures alignment with evolving policy, practice, and reporting requirements.
Success in this role requires clear communication, leadership, and long‑term strategic planning to keep the data platform accurate, accessible, sustainable, and effective for frontline staff serving children and families.
- Leads the design and delivery of enterprise‑grade data pipelines and visualizations sourced from Salesforce and other systems, increasing data availability and analytics adoption by measurable percentages.
- Builds and optimizes scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Synapse, Mule Soft, SQL, and Salesforce data connectors, consistently meeting defined performance and reliability SLAs.
- Develops and maintains high‑quality data models that improve reporting accuracy and reduce downstream data issues as measured through validation and reconciliation checks.
- Implements automated data‑quality monitoring and remediation processes for Salesforce‑derived datasets, reducing data errors and improving integrity against established thresholds.
- Troubleshoots complex data issues across integrated platforms resolving root causes within agreed timelines to improve platform stability and user trust.
