Operating Systems Software Manager I (NS) Overview
This role is a pivotal technical leadership position responsible for administrating enterprise‑grade cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate should be able to self‑manage and proactively lead a team to support the development, operation, and maintenance of complex IT systems, infrastructures, and environments. Responsibilities include cloud resource provisioning, optimization, privacy and security compliance, and site reliability engineering to ensure continuous, secure, and reliable availability for both internal staff and North Carolina citizens.
Responsibilities- Infrastructure Management:
Spearhead and manage the implementation and upgrade of cloud‑based application infrastructure, platform, and supporting software. Oversee the planning, deployment, and patching of operating systems, databases, and platform updates. - Automation and Orchestration:
Champion efficient automation and orchestration of cloud infrastructure and operations using relevant tools and technologies. - Monitoring and Logging:
Ensure robust monitoring and logging solutions provide real‑time visibility into infrastructure and application health. - Leadership:
Lead a team of Dev Ops engineers, batch process developers, and executives, guiding day‑to‑day priorities with agile engineering practices. - Emergency Response:
Respond flexibly and promptly to system emergencies, including production issues and public health crises.
- Hands‑on experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, ALB, and RDS.
- Knowledge of Terraform, Ansible, and cloud‑native automation tools.
- Experience providing technical leadership for large‑scale IT applications hosted on AWS Cloud.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, or Power Shell) for automation and infrastructure management.
- Familiarity with interpreting logs and metrics from services like Cloud Watch, Cloud Trail, and Dynatrace.
