Piper Companies is seeking a SOC Analyst to join a leading technology-focused organization in the Raleigh, North Carolina area. The SOC Analyst will be responsible for monitoring and responding to security events while also designing, developing, and maintaining advanced Splunk dashboards to improve threat visibility and security operations effectiveness. This role is ideal for a security professional with hands‑on SOC experience and strong expertise in Splunk dashboard creation and reporting.
Responsibilitiesof the SOC Analyst:
- Monitor, investigate, and respond to security alerts, incidents, and threats across enterprise environments.
- Design, build, and maintain custom Splunk dashboards, reports, and visualizations for security monitoring and executive reporting.
- Develop and optimize Splunk searches, alerts, and correlation rules to improve threat detection capabilities.
- Perform incident triage, root cause analysis, and remediation support for security events.
- Collaborate with security engineers, IT teams, and stakeholders to enhance security monitoring processes.
- Analyze logs from multiple security tools and platforms to identify suspicious activity and emerging threats.
- Document incidents, procedures, and recommendations for continuous SOC improvement.
- 4+ years of experience in a Security Operations Center (SOC) or cybersecurity analyst role.
- Hands‑on experience creating, maintaining, and optimizing Splunk dashboards and reporting solutions.
- Experience monitoring and analyzing security events, alerts, and incidents.
- Knowledge of SIEM technologies, log management, and threat detection methodologies.
- Familiarity with common security tools including EDR, IDS/IPS, firewalls, and vulnerability management platforms.
- Understanding of cybersecurity frameworks and best practices.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
- Relevant certifications such as Security+, CySA+, GCIH, or Splunk certifications are a plus.
- Salary range: $130,000 - $145,000 depending on experience
