USPS is looking for a Network Engineer to support the USPS Network Connectivity Platform (NCP) team to provide network technologies and infrastructure support ensuring always on, always available systems to our employees, customers, and for 32K sites.
The Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, securing, and maintaining proxy solutions to manage network traffic efficiently. You will ensure proper monitoring and optimization in maintaining a secure, efficient, and reliable network infrastructure through your expertise in proxy server technologies and network security practices.
HOW A NETWORK ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:- Leads assessment, design and technical implementation activities related to the Bluecoat product platforms
- Documents solution requirements given business and technical objectives
- Designs and implements pilot and production architecture given success criteria
- Defines, creates, and maintains proxy policies
- Executes SSL Interception with an integrated internal PKI environment
- Understands various proxy authentication methods with relation to a domain environment
- Executes production deployment criteria to complete a job
- Leads root-cause analysis and troubleshooting effort for production deployment
- Functions as a liaison between the client and Symantec Support
- Competent in reporting issues, anomalies and problems through proper channels (i.e., account management, technical support)
- Provides incident status reports as required
- Achieves Key Performance Indicators
- Performs other duties relevant to deployment and security operations as assigned
- Experience with other various IT technologies:
- SNMP
- Syslog
- PKI
- HSM
- VPN
Required Experience:
- 8+ years of Blue Coat/Proxy experience in supporting large networks.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field or equivalent experience
- HTTP proxy configuration, integration, and administration expertise. Preferred Broadcom Bluecoat
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, UDP/IP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/s and HTTP proxy.
- Understanding of network, protocol and application traffic flows
- Proficient in the architecture, design and deployment of these Symantec Blue Coat Product solutions:
- Advance Secure Gateway (ASG/SG) Proxies
- Management Center
- Reporter
- Web Security Services
Skills:
- Experience with APIs, scripting, and Splunk data flows. Preferred Perl, python and Java Script
- Strong understanding of HTTP proxy including circuit gateways (generic proxies)
- Proficient with application layer protocols – HTTP, SSH, SSL, etc.
- Raleigh, NC – Hybrid
- Evenings may be required, as needed
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust and successfully pass a thorough Government background screening process requiring the completion of detailed forms and fingerprinting
- This position has a U.S. residency requirement.
The USPS security clearance process requires the selected candidate to have resided in the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for the last five years as follows:
U.S. Citizens cannot have left the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for longer than 6 months consecutively in the last 3 years (unless they meet certain exceptions). Non-U.S. Citizens cannot have left the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for longer than 90 days consecutively in the last 3 years.
