Database Engineer III

Overview

The Database Engineer III serves as a senior-level technical resource responsible for the design, implementation, administration, support, and optimization of enterprise database and data platform technologies. The position leads the engineering and support of Redis environments (standalone and clustered), Open Search platforms, and relational database technologies including PostgreSQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and IBM DB2. The role also provides expertise in Oracle Golden Gate replication technologies, including real-time, batch, and bidirectional replication architectures.

This position partners closely with application teams, infrastructure teams, security teams, and business stakeholders to deliver highly available and secure database solutions. The role participates in on-call support, disaster recovery exercises, automation initiatives, and technology modernization efforts while driving operational excellence across the database ecosystem.

Provides advanced engineering and operational support for enterprise database and data platform technologies. Designs, builds, configures, installs, upgrades, patches, and maintains database infrastructure across physical, virtual, and cloud environments.

Leads troubleshooting and resolution of complex production incidents, performance issues, replication failures, and infrastructure outages. Provides technical leadership during incident response and root cause analysis efforts.

Manages technical projects and initiatives related to database infrastructure modernization, platform migrations, cloud adoption, automation, and operational improvements.

Serves as the primary engineering resource for Redis environments.

• Design, install, configure, and support Redis standalone and clustered deployments.
• Build and maintain Redis environments on Linux-based operating systems.
• Implement Redis high availability solutions, clustering, replication, backup, and recovery processes.
• Monitor Redis health, performance, capacity, and availability.
• Design and support Redis cloud deployments including managed cloud services and hybrid architectures.
• Develop standards, procedures, and operational documentation for Redis administration.
• Perform Redis security hardening, patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management.

Provides engineering and operational support for enterprise Open Search environments.

• Install, configure, and maintain Open Search clusters.
• Monitor cluster performance, availability, indexing rates, and storage utilization.
• Troubleshoot search performance issues and platform incidents.
• Configure index lifecycle management, retention policies, backups, and disaster recovery processes.
• Partner with application teams to optimize search architecture and indexing strategies.
• Implement security controls, role-based access, and audit capabilities.

Knowledge and Support for a heterogenous database environment including:

• PostgreSQL
• Oracle Database
• Microsoft SQL Server
• IBM DB2

Designs, implements, and supports Oracle Golden Gate replication solutions.

• Configure and administer Golden Gate environments across Oracle and supported heterogeneous database platforms.
• Support real-time and batch-oriented replication solutions.
• Design and maintain bidirectional replication architectures.
• Monitor replication health, latency, and performance.
• Troubleshoot replication failures and data synchronization issues.
• Support high availability and disaster recovery replication requirements.
• Implement change data capture (CDC) solutions and data integration strategies.

Provides database platform administration within Linux environments.

• Install and maintain database platforms on Red Hat Enterprise Linux and related distributions.
• Perform operating system level troubleshooting related to database performance and availability.
• Support server provisioning, storage configuration, process monitoring, and patching activities.
• Collaborate with infrastructure teams to maintain secure and stable Linux environments.

Responsible for maintaining secure access to enterprise database environments.
