Overview
The Director of Planning & Supply Chain oversees end-to-end supply chain operations to ensure reliable, compliant, and cost-effective delivery of pharmaceutical products. This role leads demand planning, production planning, materials management, inventory control, and S&OP processes. The Director ensures supply continuity and maintains adherence to global regulatory and quality standards (GMP, FDA, EMA, ICH).
Key Responsibilities- Strategic & Operational Leadership
- Develop and execute the global supply chain strategy aligned with business and commercial objectives.
- Lead demand planning, supply planning, and master production scheduling to support product launches, lifecycle management, and market supply needs.
- Oversee S&OP processes to ensure cross-functional alignment between Commercial, Manufacturing, Quality, and Finance.
- Demand & Supply Planning
- Own creation and accuracy of demand forecasts in partnership with Commercial and Finance teams.
- Translate forecasts into capacity and materials requirements; optimize production plans to meet service-level targets.
- Monitor supply risk, lead scenario modeling, and drive proactive mitigation strategies.
- Materials & Inventory Management
- Lead procurement, vendor management, and material sourcing for APIs, excipients, packaging components, and critical supplies.
- Establish optimal inventory levels while reducing working capital and avoiding stockouts or expiries.
- Oversee material qualification, supplier audits, and quality compliance for all sourced items.
- Logistics & Distribution
- Manage global logistics, cold-chain distribution, and third-party logistics (3PL) partners.
- Ensure compliant shipping, serialization, and product traceability according to GDP guidelines.
- Optimize warehousing/distribution network to improve service and reduce costs.
- Compliance & Quality
- Ensure all supply chain activities comply with cGMP, GDP, FDA, EMA, and other applicable international regulations.
- Collaborate closely with Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, and Manufacturing to maintain full compliance.
- Support audits, inspections, and CAPA initiatives.
- Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Implement KPIs covering forecast accuracy, OTIF, inventory turns, cost savings, and supplier performance.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce supply chain risks.
- Drive digital supply chain transformation, including planning systems, ERP enhancements, and analytics tools.
- Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, Business, or related field required.
- Master’s degree (MBA, MS Supply Chain) preferred.
- APICS CPIM or CSCP, Six Sigma, or PMP certifications are a plus.
- Experience
- 10+ years of supply chain management experience, including 5+ in leadership roles within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
- Strong understanding of GMP, GDP, Quality Systems, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Net Suite) and advanced planning tools.
- Proven success managing complex global supply chains and external manufacturing partners (CMOs/CDMOs).
- Skills

- Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage risk, solve complex problems, and make data-driven decisions.
- Proficiency in scenario planning, financial analysis, and supply chain modeling.
- Travel
- Willingness to travel domestically as required up to 20%.

Experience:
This position is virtual and the salary of the successful candidate will be based on expertise, education, relevant experience as well as geography. The anticipated base salary range for a Director is $247,000 - $280,000. We also offer a competitive benefits package, including:
