Position: Intern, Shared Services and Supply Chain (Summer 2027)

The Martin Marietta Summer Supply Chain and shared Services Internship is designed to provide students with meaningful, hands‑on experience supporting strategic supply chain initiatives, shared services operations, and business improvement projects. This approximately 10‑week program offers the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge in a real-world business environment while developing analytical, project management, process improvement, and leadership skills.

Reporting to members of the Supply Chain and shared Services team, interns work alongside professionals supporting procurement, supplier management, business analytics, process improvement, financial operations, and other key business functions. Interns contribute to projects that drive operational efficiency, improve business processes, and support data‑driven decision‑making across the organization. This position is based at Martin Marietta's corporate headquarters in Raleigh, NC and provides exposure to a wide range of supply chain and shared services activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Follow and promote Martin Marietta's safety, ethical, and compliance standards in all work activities.
  • Participate in projects focused on process development, continuous improvement, root cause analysis, and business problem‑solving.
  • Support department leaders in planning, coordinating, and driving project activities to successful completion.
  • Analyze supply chain, procurement, and operational data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and cost‑saving opportunities.
  • Assist in developing project charters, process documentation, workflows, and implementation plans.
  • Support supplier onboarding activities and help maintain accurate vendor master data.
  • Assist with cash application and accounts payable transaction review and resolution of discrepancies.
  • Support the maintenance, optimization, and improvement of procurement, financial, and business systems.
  • Conduct quantitative analysis and develop reports, dashboards, presentations, and visualizations that support business decisions.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams across Supply Chain, Procurement, Finance, Operations, and Shared Services to support business objectives.
  • Perform all responsibilities in accordance with the Company's Mission, Vision, Values, policies, procedures, and Code of Ethical Business Conduct.
Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in finance, supply chain management, business administration, or a closely related field
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities, with the ability to interpret and leverage data effectively.
  • Ability to research, learn independently, and work with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to quickly learn new systems, technologies, and business processes.
  • Experience working with data analysis, reporting tools, or ERP systems is preferred.
